The
Westchester County records exhibited here are windows to the past that document
Westchester's extraordinary progress. The documents come from the offices
of municipal clerks, historical societies and the special collections of public
libraries – offering both public and private records. This site is designed
to represent every city, town and village in the county and to speak to the
history of each of its 45 communities. To locate records relating to a particular
community, click on the municipality’s name from the drop-down list
to the left or use the Place Names
Index.
Additionally, representative samples are presented from the collections of the
Westchester County Archives [WCA]
and the Westchester County Historical Society
[WCHS], the two institutions sponsoring this website. You may also visit
our home websites at www.westchestergov.com/wcarchives
and www.westchesterhistory.com
respectively for further information.
We encourage you to explore these primary written materials that will carry
you back in time through more than 300 years of Westchester's development.
