Haight Ledger of Freight on a Hudson River Sloop, 1827
In the 19th century Sing Sing (now Ossining) was a busy port on the Hudson
River. Farmers from across the northern part of the county brought their produce
and livestock to Sing Sing to be shipped to New York City by sloop or steamboat.
This ledger provides a look at what was being shipped, as well as what it cost.
