John Gass, well known for his photographic documentation of landscapes
and architecture, foretells the importance of the automobile in Westchester
County. The Gass collection at the Archives has over 1,000 similarly
stunning black-and-white images of landscapes, bridges, Westchester
County parks and buildings, and activities sponsored by the Westchester
