Two Quaker Marriage Certificates,
1830 and 1859
These two marriage records are for Daniel Griffen and Hannah Griffen (1830)
and their son, James Griffen, and Adaline Burling (1859), all of White Plains.
The wording is the same for both records, although the later one is much more
elaborately done and signed by the artist. Both include names of those attending
the ceremony at the Religious Society of Friends in Purchase, who signed the
documents as witnesses to the marriages. Quaker marriage records are important
for genealogists, since they include the names of all present.
